On Superclusters

New Town Developments, which usually dominated by Landed Residential programs, is a contemporary reality that we can't deny. There might be argumentations against their existence, but in the meantime they are there, they are big, and they are growing.

One of the Landed Residential typology that usually is offered by New Town Developments is Supercluster concept. That is multiple Clusters within one larger Cluster. One Subcluster is usually ranging from 3 to 5 hectares in size, which make one Supercluster with 4 or more Subclusters ranging around 12 to 60 hectares in size.

A typical Supercluster Scheme

A Cluster in general offers exclusivity, privacy, and maintained Residential character within its boundaries, below are the positive and negative qualities of Supercluster concept.

Search And Rescue Training Center

Some times ago, I came accross a Sketsa magazine - an architecture student magazine of University of Tarumanagara - that displays my Final Studio Project back in 2007.

My project was Search And Rescue Training Center, which was selected for Public Expose, a second presentation in front of external juries.

Using scanned images from the magazine, with some retouch to some of them for clarity, this post is a rememberance of the project.

space, pattern, & geometry.

Monument & Museum Of PDRI (Emergency Government Of The Republic Of Indonesia)

Pemerintahan Darurat Republik Indonesia (PDRI) was an emergency government (government in exile) of the Republic of Indonesia set up during the occupation of Indonesian Capital, then in Yogyakarta. The emergency government was led by Mr. Sjafruddin Prawiranegara and located in Bukittinggi, West Sumatera, which then moved around West Sumatera to avoid arrest by The Dutch.

After the Roem-Royen peace agreement, Mr. Sjafruddin Prawiranegara disbanded the PDRI and returned the mandate to the President of The Republic of Indonesia.

Sister City Telescopes

To develop itself, a city needs optimism. And together with every other cities, it needs reflections and experience sharing, especially with greater ones. One way to learn, cooperate, and sharing each other's experience is through Sister Cities (or Twin Towns) concept.

There are many cities in the world that are 'sisters' (or 'twins') to Jakarta, but Berlin in Germany and Los Angeles in USA are very interesting, for they are also 'sisters' to each other.

Jakarta Vertical Kampung: Penjaringan
